Apartment Block in Maroussi

The apartment block was built on a 1.445m² (15.554ft²) corner lot near the metro tracks.

In order to mitigate the noise from the passing trains, the building was located on the site’s highest point and provided with deep garden balconies of about 4,80m (15,74ft) and slanting jardinières in the front refracting sound.

The use of a 1,20m (3,94ft) module permitted a degree of internal flexibility in arranging the floor plans’ layout, which prospective owners did want during the construction phase.

A typical floor includes two large apartments in the front, having good distant views of Mount Pendeli and two small apartments in the back.

This project was published in the architectural magazine Design + Art in Greece (issue 14, 1983) and also mentioned in the book Reflections on Greek Postwar Architecture by Panos Tsakopoulos (published 2014) and the summer publication Residences in the Suburbs by the newspaper ‘I Kathimerini’ (2023).
